Trinidad

We're sitting in the plaza checking our email, What's App, etc, and there is a heated political argument taking place a few benches down.

Political discussion is not unusual in time of change and Cuba is facing some big changes. It's been going for around half an hour but it seems to be coming to a natural end as the midday heat starts to kick in.

It is very hot today and in true Cuba style our plan to take the 11am hop-on, hop-off bus to the beach slowly disintegrated as it failed to show. The large group waiting steadily dwindled as the local taxi drivers offered to take various groups of four people to the beach for 2CUCs per person. They were like predators, each driver approaching the shoal, grabbing 4 tourists and leading them to their taxi. By 11.20 the shoal had dwindled from around 20 to just four of us, and still no sign of the bus. We decided to give up, hang out at the plaza and regroup.

Bus stop

Oh, the political discussion down the way has re-kindled.
