La Boca

This morning we left Trinidad for the small fishing village of La Boca, just 10km down the road and a lovely Casa overlooking a small bay and the mountains beyond. I'm sitting on the balcony writing this and I may not move from here for the next 4 days.

It's lovely, the en suite even has a toilet seat. The bedroom is a shrine to the colour pink. Pink walls, pink curtains and a dazzling pink bedspread complete with pink heart cushions. We're not talking subtle pink, we are talking Barbie meets the Kardisians loud as you can imagine pink. You put your sunglasses on to go inside. It's wonderful!

La Boca is very quiet with a few cars and taxis trundling on the street below and the locals going about their business. But this is a fishing village in the same way that Porthleven or Port Issac in Cornwall are fishing villages, it's been discovered by us tourists and many of the houses, like this one run by a lovely lady called Anaisy, are renting rooms. This one is costing us 25CUC a night - around £16 - and being so close to Trinidad I can only see La Boca becoming more popular.

We are here possibly for 5 days, so we'll either slow right down and go into total chill out mode, or be bored after a couple of days and head back to the bright lights of Trinidad.
